Thousands of people come to see Bao Thang Buffalo Fighting Festival

For the first time, Bao Thang Buffalo Fighting Festival near Sapa Vietnam was held, attracting nearly 10,000 locals and tourists from all over the world. Today (February 28), in Gia Phu commune, Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province, the buffalo fighting festival was held for the first time, attracting nearly 10,000 locals and tourists from all over the world to attend.

This year’s Bao Thang buffalo fighting festival near Sapa Vietnam has 16 pairs of buffaloes from Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Son La and Hai Phong provinces. In Yen Bai province alone, up to 10 buffaloes attended. The largest fighting buffalo weighs 800kg. The fighting buffaloes were transported to the competition area early, cared for with a special regime, giving the audience a spectacular performance.

Mr. Nguyen Van Cao, a resident of Tang Loong town, Bao Thang district near Sapa Vietnam shared: “I saw the buffalo fighting festival of Bao Thang district for the first time. The people are very eager, excited, the audience watches in order and is very happy. This festival opens to show the beautiful culture of Lao Cai province in general and Bao Thang district in particular.” For the people of the Northwest mountainous region, the Buffalo Fighting Festival at the beginning of the year is not only a happy spring festival, but also an opportunity to praise and acknowledge good husbandry families.
