Thien Ton cave

Thien Ton cave is at the foot of Elephant Mountain, about 6 km from Tam Coc Ninh Binh. The cave is a historical and cultural relic of Hoa Lu ancient capital. If Bai Dinh pagoda mountain worships Cao Son who is the god of the mountain guarding at the western gateway to the West citadel, Trang An cave worships Quy Minh who is the water god guarding at the southern gateway to the South citadel, the pagoda is a relic worshiping Thien Ton, the guardian angel at the eastern gateway to the East citadel of Hoa Lu ancient capital near Tam Coc Ninh Binh

Thien Ton cave worships the god Thien Ton, the legendary god in the capital Hoa Lu in the 10th century. It is said that before sending troops to quell the rebellion of 12 warlords, Dinh Bo Linh brought offerings to the cave to pray God’s help to defeat the other ambassadors. After ascending the throne, Dinh Tien Hoang De set up his capital in Hoa Lu, he built the Tien Te and Kinh Thien houses to welcome foreign emissaries before entering the capital.
