Going against the direction of Tam Coc Ninh Binh, visitors will come to Bich Dong – where is known as “Nam Thien De Nhi Dong” (the second most beautiful cave in the South sky). Bich Dong means green cave, is the name given by prime minister Nguyen Nghiem, father of the great poet Nguyen Du in 1773. Here is Bich Dong pagoda – an ancient temple built in the Later Le Dynasty. Bich Dong Pagoda was originally called “Bach Ngoc Thach Son Dong” – that is, a beautiful and pure stone pagoda in the deep mountains. In 1774, Lord Trinh Sam came here to change its name to Bich Dong pagoda.

Bich Dong pagoda near Tam Coc Ninh Binh was built into the mountainside and is divided into 3 levels: Lower pagoda, Trung pagoda and Thuong pagoda. It has the beauty of ancient architecture with a curved pagoda roof leaning against the mountain position. Bich Dong Pagoda is as beautiful as a landscape picture of majestic mountains and forests, hidden among ancient green trees, making visitors fall in love with its poetic and ancient beauty.
