Kim Ngan Pagoda

Kim Ngan Pagoda is also called Ngan Pagoda because it is located on the territory of Dong Ngan or Dai Van Pagoda because it is located at the foot of Dai Van Mountain near Tam Coc Ninh Binh. Legend has it that the pagoda was built on the warehouse of King Dinh – King Le, so it was called Kim Ngan Pagoda, which means Golden Temple. According to historical books, in the spring of 987, King Le Dai Hanh first plowed the field in Doi mountain and obtained a small pot of gold. Again plowing at Ban Hai mountain, got a small silver jar, which was named Kim Ngan field.

Kim Ngan Pagoda near Tam Coc Ninh Binh, along with Am Tien Pagoda, Duyen Ninh Pagoda, Co Am Pagoda, Nhat Tru Pagoda, are ancient temples of the Dinh – Le dynasties located in the campus of Hoa Lu citadel that have survived to this day. Among them, Duyen Ninh pagoda and Kim Ngan pagoda are located in the western citadel of the ancient capital. Like Nhat Tru Pagoda, Kim Ngan Pagoda is a place to worship Buddha and 10th century monks such as Phap Thuan, Khuong Viet and Van Hanh.
