A soul of Cuc Phuong

On the occasion of his 31st birthday, Anh Tram decided to give himself a very special trip to welcome the new age. Instead of gathering with relatives and friends like in previous years, Anh Tram alone went to a place he had never been before – a trip to explore the core of Cuc Phuong National Forest near Tam Coc Ninh Binh with criteria..5K: No electricity, no network, no electricity. phone signal, do not go with anyone, do not know anyone. “Perhaps for many people, it’s like autism, but actually for me, it’s how I recharge my energy. The city is too noisy, too much pressure, busy work takes me away. So I want to go to a quiet, fresh, green place.” Mr. Tram shared.

The Japanese have an interesting concept of “forest bathing”. This term is called “Shinrin yoku” in Japanese, and “forest bathing” in English. “Shinrin yoku” can be understood as letting the body and soul be relaxed, cleansed in the atmosphere of the forest by all senses. When we go far enough away from the daily grind, we will have the necessary silence, to calmly look back and listen to what we really want. Anh Tram’s trip lasted 3 days, eating and drinking in Bong hamlet. As one of the three main zones of Cuc Phuong National Forest near Tam Coc Ninh Binh and the furthest one, Bong hamlet is located in the middle of the forest, about 20 kilometers from the forest gate. Due to the complicated epidemic and the cold weather, Anh Tram was the only guest. The whole village of Bong has only an elderly ranger couple, an assistant aunt, a gentle dog and a few mischievous cats. In the yard, there are more chickens who like to warm up in the sun and a few peacocks walking around leisurely.

Every day, Anh Tram gets up early in the morning and walks into the forest to play. She trekked to the thousand-year-old tree by herself to witness a “legend” she had heard since childhood. As one of the great trees in Vietnam, the tree in Cuc Phuong forest has a height of up to 50m, a diameter of 5m and a circumference of more than 20 people. Unfortunately, up to now the tree has died, only the rotten stump remains. But when touching the tree, Anh Tram still feels very emotional and respectful. The thousand-year-old Cho tree has become a symbol, a soul of Cuc Phuong near Tam Coc Ninh Binh and even after it has died, it still stands tall and proud.
